With the assistance of trade union representatives, Unions into Schools has delivered over 2,000 classroom and virtual online sessions to school pupils throughout Scotland.
The STUC Unions into Schools programme is a Scottish government-funded initiative that has been running since 2004. The programme trains union representatives to visit secondary schools across Scotland to deliver interactive sessions on workers' rights, equalities, and other topics related to trade unions. The aim is to educate young people about their rights in the workplace and to help them understand the role of trade unions and protecting workers' rights. The sessions are tailored to the needs of each school and can cover topics such as discrimination, health and safety, and the minimum wage. The programme is open to all secondary schools in Scotland and has been highly successful in raising awareness of workers' rights among young people.
